The power of the L3C is in the message that its brand is beginning to convey. It is expected that businesses electing this structure will come to be viewed by the public as social enterprises and that they will be prepared to share information about social mission performance achievements. The applications of the model to date have shown that they enjoy more benefits from the brand than they do from philanthropic program related investments. It is likely that L3Cs will soon identify a need to participate in some type of public digest, similar to Guidestar, that will present information about their socially beneficial activities and that they will be more transparent in their operations than traditional LLCs

This discussion is very helpful in setting the limits of L3C. We all should know that there are no 'silver bullets' that will replace good business plans and excellent execution. I appreciate the piece.

I too have been excited about this new legal structure for hybrids. I think that many of us have been overly simplistic, "If we build it (the structure), they will come (the dollars)." Thank you for the balanced point of view.
