Bridge Cash Flow Gaps
Many nonprofits experience cash flow challenges. Unfortunately it’s not unusual. A cash shortage can result from the timing of grant disbursements or contract reimbursements, or from unanticipated expenses. Luckily, there are resources to help you overcome this obstacle. A loan from Nonprofits Assistance Fund can bridge this temporary gap.
Nonprofits Assistance Fund can also help you discover whether or not your organization has systemic cash flow challenges, and arrive at long-term solutions to maintain your organization’s financial health.
How a loan Can Help
"There was just a release of anxiety when they started working with us. I honestly don’t know where we’d be without Nonprofits Assistance Fund." Mary Pendergast, Executive Director.
Anodyne was started in 1999 in Mary Pendergast’s home. Very quickly, they
needed an actual space and found an old garage in St. Paul. A
philanthropist helped cover some of the initial costs to clean up and
renovate the space. As Anodyne became established, Mary realized
they were going to be in trouble. Rent and overhead costs were adding
up. Money was scheduled to come in from state programs, but the
timeline was so far out that Anodyne would not be able to exist long
enough to see the income. "It was frightening thing to be where we
were."
Mary recognized that financial know-how and management are
extremely important, and that Anodyne could make it if they had a way to
manage their finances and bridge the financial gap. She
approached Nonprofits Assistance Fund and met with Janet
Ogden-Brackett. Janet provided support to Anodyne to help
navigate the time of financial uncertainty and provided them with a
line of credit that bridged their cash flow gaps.
Nonprofits Assistance Fund's support has allowed Anodyne to continually
increase their program. They are able to provide a place for artists
with
disabilities to practice, as well as an opportunity for the
professional artists can
improve and learn.
